Tables

Your group, when you play, and who runs the game.

What a Table Is

A table is your group and its agreement to play: the people, the day and time, where you meet, and the campaign you're playing.

  • It has one regular schedule, like Tuesdays at 7:00 PM. TaliVault keeps the next few weeks of games on the calendar.
  • Everyone at the table is connected with everyone else, so you can invite each other to other tables.
  • Playing Tuesdays and Fridays with slightly different people? Make two tables.
① Table's default campaign. ② Member seats and connections. ③ The next few weeks of games, already scheduled.

Starting a Table

  1. Name and where: the table's name, online or in person, and links like your Discord server.
  2. Schedule: every week, every other week or once a month, the day, the start time and how long you play.
  3. Who's the DM: choose whether you run it, someone else will, or the table takes turns.
  4. Invite: share the link in your group chat, invite people you're connected with, or send an email.
① Table name and meeting place. ② Online vs in-person settings. ③ 4-step guided creation flow.

Inviting People to Your Table

Once your table is created, you can invite players anytime:

  • Share a Link: The easiest way. Paste the invite link into your Discord or group chat, and players take a seat with one tap.
  • Invite Connections: Invite fellow players you've previously played with across other tables.
  • Invite by Email: Send direct email invites with zero signup friction. TaliVault temporarily holds their email address until they answer, and deletes it after 14 days if unanswered.
① One-link group chat invite. ② One-tap connection invites. ③ Passwordless email invitations.

Who Runs the Game

When you start a table you say who's running it:

  • I will: you're the regular DM, and you set up your campaign next.
  • Someone else: they set up their campaign when they join. Until then, each night shows Needs a DM.
  • We take turns: no regular DM. Anyone at the table can run a night from that night's page.

With a regular DM, you also choose what happens if the DM can't make it: the table plays anyway (the night opens up for anyone to run), or no DM means no game (the night is cancelled and everyone's told).

Things That Need Someone to Agree

A table is a shared space, so a few things take the person who asks plus one other person at the table:

  • cancelling a game ("We Agreed to Cancel")
  • stopping the regular games
  • changing the schedule
  • removing someone from the table
  • opening a night when the DM can't be reached

Everyone else gets an email with an I Agree button, and the first person to agree makes it happen. If nobody agrees, nothing changes. A request about one game lapses when that game starts; others lapse after a week. At a table of one, things happen straight away.

Moving a single game doesn't need agreement: anyone can, and everyone's told the new time.

Moving One Game

All free on Wednesday this week instead? Open that game and use Change This Night to move it, change where you're meeting, or add a note. Only that night changes, and everyone's told if the time moved.

You can also add a one-off game outside the schedule from the table's page.

Leaving a Table

Use Leave the Table in the table's settings. You're off every future game. If the table's campaign is yours, it leaves with you and the nights open up.
